The May Day holiday is coming soon I have compiled a "Labor Day Holiday Fraud Prevention Guide" Let’s take a look together 01 Low-price online shopping scams During the May Day holiday, not only are major shopping malls and supermarkets engaged in price wars, but online shopping platforms are also joining the promotion war, and friends who stay at home are inevitably involved in a shopping war. Some criminals will take advantage of this period to push a lot of discount and promotion information to attract consumers to click on the websites they designed. However, most of these websites are phishing websites. Once the identity information is filled in, it is easy to cause personal information to be leaked or even money to be stolen, and consumers' property may suffer great losses. Anti-fraud reminder: Consumers should pay attention to choosing well-known websites as much as possible, ask for specific details of after-sales service, and keep relevant online chats and transaction evidence, etc.; finally, they must inspect the goods on the spot and verify that the goods are correct and not damaged before signing and confirming payment. 02 Online Shopping Refund Scams During the holidays, many citizens like to shop online at home. After citizens submit orders online, criminals use illegal means to steal buyer information or call to inform that there is a problem with the order and a refund is required. They contact the buyer as a customer service representative or seller, and ask for bank card information and passwords through fake refund links or web pages (phishing websites) to transfer the deposit in the card. Anti-fraud reminder: After shopping online, if you receive a strange phone call or text message informing you that there is a problem with your order and that a refund is required, and asking you to log in to the website provided by them to get a refund, do not believe it, do not add any communication methods provided by the other party, and do not tell the other party your bank card and password or scan a QR code. Be careful to avoid being deceived. 03 The trap of low-price tickets for scenic spots Scammers put up attractive advertisements for low-priced scenic spot tickets on fake websites to attract tourists' attention, and added customer service staff to transfer money to purchase tickets. However, after the tourists transferred the money, there was no response from the customer service staff. Anti-fraud reminder: Be wary of low-price ticket purchase traps, do not click on unknown websites or information, and do not transfer money to strangers. 04 Traffic violation fraud Scammers take advantage of the fact that car owners are out traveling on holidays, are unfamiliar with road conditions, and are worried about traffic violations. They use "fake base stations" to send out "speeding violation reminder text messages" in batches, tricking users into clicking on the URL in the text message. After users download and install the software, the personal information they fill in, such as name, ID number, mobile phone number, bank card password, etc., is uploaded to the scammers' server. Anti-fraud reminder: Regular traffic violation notification text messages usually provide detailed information about the license plate number, date, time, location, and circumstances of the violation. When you receive such text messages, do not blindly believe them or click on the links in them at will. Instead, contact the traffic control department to verify before taking any action. 05 Flight cancellation scam The May Day holiday is a peak period for travel. Fraudsters will use fake base stations to frantically send fraudulent text messages, using the excuse of "flight cancellation" or "flight delay" to ask users to change or refund their tickets. They will then send passengers a phishing text message with a fake airline's official website to obtain the user's bank card, ID card and other information. Fraudsters will then use this information to steal funds from the user's bank card. During this period, the payment SMS verification code required by the fraudsters will be asked from passengers using lies such as refunds and changes. Anti-fraud reminder: If you receive a text message saying your flight is canceled, you can verify the authenticity of the information by calling 114 to check the airline’s official phone number. Do not call the number in the text message directly. 06 Bank annual review fraud Recently, the financial staff of many companies in Ningbo received a notice of "bank annual review" in their emails. The fraudsters pretended to be bank staff, added the financial staff to their QQ on the grounds of "company account annual review", and sent a "legal person authorization letter" to deceive the financial staff's trust. Subsequently, the fraudsters pulled the financial staff into a QQ group with "bosses", "managers", "leaders" and other personnel in the group. The "boss" told the financial staff to follow up on the bank account annual inspection in the group, further deceiving the financial staff's trust. Finally, the "boss" asked the financial staff to immediately transfer the money to the designated bank account on the grounds of "project funds, contract deposits, fund borrowing", etc. The financial staff easily transferred the money without any special procedures, resulting in being deceived. Anti-fraud reminder: If you receive information related to the annual inspection of a bank account, please contact the bank in time for verification and confirmation. Banks will not require the transmission of business information through QQ and other channels when handling annual inspections for enterprises, and no fees are charged for annual inspections of accounts. It is recommended that enterprises raise their awareness of prevention, strengthen internal communication, and do not trust calls that ask for account payment passwords and verification codes in any name. Once suspected fraud or being deceived is discovered, please call 110 or 96110 in time, accurately provide information such as the transfer time, amount, and the other party's account, and cooperate with the police to stop losses and collect evidence.
