Yaya is home! What "compulsory courses" will it take after returning home?

Yaya is home. I heard that he has to take some "classes" after returning to China? Learning Chinese? Eating hometown food? Let's take a look at what "compulsory classes" the giant pandas take after returning to China.

After nearly 16 hours of flight, the cargo plane carrying the giant panda "Ya Ya" landed at Shanghai Pudong Airport at 16:24 on April 27. It has been 20 years, 1 month and 10 days since the giant panda "Ya Ya" took a flight to the United States on March 17, 2003. The giant panda "Ya Ya" returned to her long-lost motherland.

What are the “compulsory courses” for giant pandas after returning to China?

Of course, after returning to China, the "Princess" Yaya will spend her old age happily under the care of a full-time nanny.

Yaya also took FedEx when she went to the United States

FedEx flew Yaya back to China. According to FedEx's official account, the panda's "small compartment" on the plane is more comfortable than sitting in first class. The container is 78 inches (about 2 meters) long, 56 inches (1.4 meters) wide, and 54 inches (1.37 meters) high, and has a special steel and plexiglass shell. The space is spacious, and the panda can eat and play with toys freely inside.

Yaya and Lele also boarded a FedEx plane when they went to the United States on March 17, 2003. The plane that the 4-year-old male panda Lele and the 2-year-old female panda Yaya were on was named Panda Express, with panda faces decorated on both sides of the nose. Veterinarians from the Memphis Zoo and the Beijing and Shanghai Zoos accompanied the pandas on the flight.

"Ya Ya" has already undergone transport cage adaptation training

According to reports, after returning to China, Yaya will first be quarantined in Shanghai. Sun Quanhui, a scientist from the World Animal Protection Association, said that according to the Regulations for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine, animals entering the country need to be quarantined. Therefore, giant pandas returning from abroad also need this step, mainly to quarantine whether Yaya carries some unknown diseases or germs. According to relevant regulations, the quarantine period is generally 30 days.

On March 16, Beijing Zoo selected experienced veterinarians and keepers to arrive at the Memphis Zoo. Together with the experts from the Chinese Association of Zoological Gardens who were previously in the United States, they familiarized themselves with the living habits and feeding conditions of "Ya Ya", and worked with the American staff to do a good job in the feeding and health assessment of "Ya Ya". At the same time, they further refined the preparations before returning to China to ensure the safe and secure escort of "Ya Ya" back to China.

"In order to better raise Yaya after returning home, we also learned some behavioral training gestures and commands from the American keepers in Memphis," said the Beijing Zoo keeper who went to the United States.

A veterinarian from the Beijing Zoo said: "We have fully understood the feeding details and environment of the Memphis Zoo, and have become familiar with Yaya's feeding methods, feed composition, behavioral training and daily physical examinations, and have also interacted with her to a certain extent."

In terms of diet, Yaya has been eating biscuits provided by China during the transition period so that her digestive system can adapt as quickly as possible. At the same time, the breeder has trained her to adapt to the transport cage in advance so that she can successfully survive the transoceanic journey.

Yaya, welcome home!
