First stop

Fairmont Peace Hotel

The story of "Flowering" begins here

The story of the TV series "Fanghua" begins at the Peace Hotel in Shanghai, which was once the tallest building in Shanghai and was built with all the efforts of Victor Sassoon. In the 1990s, the Peace Hotel was also one of the most luxurious and high-end hotels in Shanghai. In the words of the uncle in the play, renting the British suite of the Peace Hotel as a long-term private room was Abao's "gimmick".

The extravagant New Year's Eve party in the drama was filmed in the area from the Peace Hall on the eighth floor of the Peace Hotel to the east gate of the hotel.

Bao Zong's business base - British suite

The nine-country suites at the Peace Hotel are well-known. The Germany, India and Spain suites are located on the fifth floor, the France, Japan and Italy suites are located on the sixth floor, and the China, Britain and America suites are located on the seventh floor (Room 72 of Mr. Bao in the drama is the British Suite 720 in reality).

Take the elevator to the seventh floor of the hotel. At the end of the corridor is the British Suite No. 720, which is one of the nine foreign suites of the Peace Hotel. American comedy master Charlie Chaplin once stayed here with Paulette Goddard, the heroine of "Modern Times"; British Field Marshal and military strategist Montgomery also stayed in the British Suite when he visited China in 1960.

Century-old antique elevator

Friends who have watched the drama must be impressed by the iron fence elevator that appeared many times in the drama. Unlike the common elevators nowadays, the iron fence elevator has a wooden cabin inside. You need to manually bring up the outermost iron fence, press the direction key, and turn the start switch. The whole process must be operated by a dedicated person, so many people call this elevator a "manual elevator."

At present, the century-old antique elevator of the Peace Hotel can still operate normally, but it is no longer open to the public. We have shot a group of real scenes on the spot for everyone. This heavy feeling that has been accumulated for a hundred years is touching just by looking at it.

Mr. Bao and Ms. Wang's terrace for New Year's Eve

Mr. Bao and Ms. Wang have become the "heartache" of countless people, and the New Year's Eve with flowers blooming on the terrace of the Peace Hotel is even more impressive.

With the afterglow of the setting sun, we came to the terrace on the ninth floor of the Peace Hotel, where the magnificent views of the Huangpu River, the Customs Building and the Oriental Pearl Tower were all in sight.

The "car accident scene" on Dianchi Road

The car accident involving Mr. Bao in the first episode immediately raised the suspense to the maximum, and the accident took place on Dianchi Road, at the side door of the Peace Hotel.

Turn a corner from Zhongshan East Road and walk into this seemingly inconspicuous little street. The heavy revolving door of the Peace Hotel brings out the hotel's unique sandalwood scent. Posters of the Senior Jazz Band are posted on the outer wall. Passing through the revolving door, you will enter a "Flower-like" dream again.

πŸ“ Address: No. 20 Nanjing East Road

Second stop

The Bund

The story of old Shanghai cannot be separated from the Bund

The drama cleverly uses the process of the Oriental Pearl Tower from its construction to its opening to lay out the timeline. The Bund also often appears in the drama. When it comes to stories about old Shanghai, the Bund can be said to be indispensable.

In the first episode, the uncle tested Bao's patience and integrity by making him wait until late at night on the Bund Observation Deck. In reality, the Bund Observation Deck is a timeless "Internet celebrity camera" in Shanghai, where you can enjoy everything from the Bund buildings to the "four-piece set" of Lujiazui on the other side of the river.

πŸ“ Address: The Bund Observation Deck

The Bund No. 27 where Miss Wang works

The Foreign Trade Building at No. 27, The Bund, where Ms. Wang works, was originally the Jardine Matheson Building, the former "king of foreign companies". In 1955, after the building was nationalized, it was used as the office building of the Shanghai Foreign Trade Bureau for a long time. Around 2005, the Foreign Trade Bureau and its affiliated state-owned foreign trade companies moved out of the building.

Today, this historic building, the "first facade" of the Bund, has been protected and restored to its original state, and has been transformed into a high-quality building integrating office, commercial and catering functions. The House of Roosevelt, Rolex flagship store, Raphael Club and Jiushi Art Museum are all located here.

πŸ“ Address: No. 27, Zhongshan East 1st Road

Third stop

Zhejiang Road and Bridge

Zhejiang Road Bridge over Suzhou River

Xiao Ningbo was upset because he couldn't get his salary paid, and he yelled that he was going to jump into the Huangpu River, but he jumped into the Suzhou River by mistake. Mr. Bao went down to save him, but because he couldn't swim, he was saved by Xiao Ningbo instead. Many people thought that Xiao Ningbo jumped into the Waibaidu Bridge, but it was not. The real Zhejiang Road Bridge was the reference for the construction of the Chedun Film and Television Base.

The 140-year-old Zhejiang Road Bridge has been destroyed several times, but it still stands on the bank of Suzhou River, connecting Huangpu District and Jing'an District. It is one of the rare fish-belly simply supported steel truss bridges in Asia and the only second remaining old steel structure bridge on Suzhou River today.

πŸ“ Address: Luqiao, Zhejiang

Fourth stop

Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street

The prototype of Hulian Department Store - Wing On Department Store

In the play, Mr. Bao contacted Hulian Department Store and invited the big star Fei Xiang to "promote the products", making Mr. Fan's "Three Sheep Brand" successfully become a famous brand in Shanghai. The Hulian Department Store here corresponds to the Hualian Department Store in reality at that time, which is now the Wing On Department Store.

Wing On Department Store, formerly known as Wing On Company, was one of the four famous department stores on Nanjing Road. It is also the only one of the four major department stores that still uses the old name. Today’s Wing On Department Store is very different from when it was first established, both in terms of product categories and methods, but it is still fashionable and stylish. Just like in the drama, it welcomes visitors with the motto of β€œthe customer is always right”.

πŸ“ Address: No. 635 Nanjing East Road

"Apparel Company" is still a clothing company.

In the play, Mr. Bao said that he chose the clothing company because it specializes in clothing and is more in line with the "second Sanyang brand". So the Shanghai Clothing Company in the play corresponds to the Shanghai Fashion Store on Nanjing Road.

The real Shanghai fashion store was the Sincere Department Store, which was the first of the "Four Major Companies" on Nanjing Road. It still specializes in clothing, including fashions, cheongsams, underwear, suits, furs and leather... everything you can think of.

πŸ“ Address: No. 660-690 Nanjing East Road

Fifth stop

Yellow River Road

The main scene of the story of "Flowers"

Huanghe Road can be said to be the main setting of the story of "Fanghua". Many old Shanghainese people recalled: "The neon lights on Huanghe Road in the 1990s were just like those in the drama."

To this day, you can still find old restaurants that have appeared in the drama, such as Jin Baxian, Yuelai Restaurant, and Yuewei Restaurant, on Huanghe Road.

πŸ“ Address: Huanghe Road

The prototype of Zhizhen Garden

Anyone with a discerning eye can recognize that the Zhizhen Garden in the TV series is the Taisheng Garden on Huanghe Road. Taisheng Garden opened in 1993 and was one of the earliest local restaurants on Huanghe Road at that time. With the popularity of the TV series, many people come here to visit. It is said that it is almost full every day recently. If you want to check in, remember to make a reservation in advance~

πŸ“ Address: No. 50 Huanghe Road

The inspiration for dry fried beef noodles may come from here

After Mr. Bao had a plate of dry fried beef noodles at Zhizhenyuan, the business of Zhizhenyuan became booming, and dry fried beef noodles became a popular delicacy on Huanghe Road.

If you want to choose a Cantonese restaurant on Huanghe Road to eat dry fried beef noodles, then Yuewei Restaurant must be a good choice. Miss Wang also mentioned this place in the play. This restaurant opened in 1991, mainly serving Cantonese cuisine and supplemented by local cuisine. It is still a long-established restaurant on Huanghe Road. The flowers on the exterior wall are very eye-catching, and the Cantonese cuisine is also very good.

πŸ“ Address: No. 147 Huanghe Road

Sixth stop

Jinxian Road

Jinxian Road where Night Tokyo is located

If Huanghe Road is a battlefield, then Jinxian Road's "Night Tokyo" is like Bao Zong's safe haven. Although the real Jinxian Road is very different from the 1990s in the drama, it is still full of fireworks, with local restaurants similar to Night Tokyo, and Shanghai shops similar to Linghong's boutiques... Avoid the crowds and stroll along Jinxian Road, which can also be your safe haven.

There is no No. 248 Jinxian Road in reality.

The house number of Yedongjing in the play is No. 248 Jinxian Road. We started from the intersection of Jinxian Road/Maoming South Road and walked to the intersection of Jinxian Road/Shaanxi South Road. We found that the house numbers on Jinxian Road only go up to No. 240, and No. 240 Jinxian Road is the local restaurant Hai Jinzi.

In the 1990s, Jinxian Road was a popular food street and the birthplace of authentic local cuisine restaurants. In addition to Hai Jinzi, Lanxin Restaurant, Maolong and Chun are also classic local cuisine restaurants on Jinxian Road, just as "small but exquisite" as the Night Tokyo in the play.

πŸ“ Address: Jinxian Road
