The peak of May Day return traffic is coming! Don’t be anxious on your way home, and keep safety in mind →

Today (May 5), the national railway ushered in a peak in return passenger traffic, with an estimated 18.65 million passengers and 1,710 additional passenger trains.

The weather in these places is bad, please be careful when traveling →

The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that today (5th), the rainfall in Jiangnan and South China will significantly weaken, and most areas will be dominated by light to moderate rain, with local torrential rain in southwestern Guizhou and northwestern Guangxi. In the next two days, there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in the southeastern part of the southwest, southern Jiangnan, and central and northern South China, with local torrential rain in southwestern Guizhou, northwestern Guangxi, and northeastern Guangdong; some of the above-mentioned areas will be accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall, local thunderstorms, gale or hail and other strong convective weather.

Due to continuous rainfall, the soil moisture content in some areas of Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan and other places is high, and the risk of flash floods and geological disasters is relatively high. The public should avoid dangerous areas such as river valleys, mountains, and slopes, and try to detour when encountering flooded sections of road when driving; at the same time, pay attention to guard against the hazards of strong convective weather such as lightning, hail, etc.

1. Check the vehicle in advance

Check and maintain the vehicle properly, avoid driving on the road with a "faulty" vehicle, and always have a fire extinguisher on hand.

2. Strictly control the speed

When a vehicle is driving on a flooded road, the adhesion between the tires and the ground decreases, so you should reduce the speed to improve the vehicle's controllability and leave yourself enough reaction time to ensure safe operation or braking when turning, going uphill or downhill or in an emergency.

Also avoid driving into flooded areas and low-lying areas. If water has accumulated around the vehicle, leave the vehicle immediately and go to higher ground.

3. Ensure a clear line of sight

When it rains, visibility decreases. Drivers need to turn on the wipers in time and adjust the wiper speed according to the amount of rain to maintain a clear view.

When visibility is less than 200 meters, turn on the fog lights, low beam lights, clearance lights, and front and rear position lights;

When visibility is less than 100 meters, turn on the fog lights, low beam lights, clearance lights, front and rear position lights and hazard warning flashers.

If you encounter heavy rain on the road and cannot see the road conditions clearly, you should turn on the hazard warning lights (i.e. double flashes), control your speed, maintain safe distance, observe the surrounding environment, do not overtake forcibly, do not change lanes suddenly, do not turn the steering wheel sharply, and do not brake suddenly.

4. Ensure traffic order

There will be heavy traffic on the return trip. If you encounter any queues or congestion, please do not cut in, compete for lanes, or rush ahead.

Passenger travel, safety tips →

1. When taking a long-distance bus, you should go to the bus station to choose a regular operating vehicle , and do not get on the bus outside the station. Resolutely resist overcrowded buses and illegal "black" chartered vehicles. When riding a bus, you must fasten your seat belt throughout the journey.

2. When taking public transportation such as cars and high-speed trains, do not carry flammable and explosive dangerous goods, do not smoke in the car, and pay attention to the location of fire extinguishers, safety hammers and emergency exits.

3. When entering crowded places, be sure to comply with passenger safety regulations for flights and vehicles. In case of fire, remain calm and evacuate in an orderly manner following instructions.

I wish you all a safe return!
