It’s so hot in summer, why is it recommended to increase the refrigerator temperature?

Who is right? How should the refrigerator gear be adjusted?

01

Level 1 means the refrigerator is at its lowest cooling temperature, right?

Most refrigerators have thermostats, which generally have levels 0 to 5 and 0 to 7.

The larger the number on the refrigerator thermostat, the lower the refrigerator's cooling temperature.

Taking the 7-speed refrigerator thermostat as an example, among them, level 0 is the shutdown level, and levels 5, 6, and 7 are forced cooling levels.

02

In the summer when the temperature is high, the refrigerator should be set to a higher level for extra cooling, right?

Professor V advises you not to do this!

The refrigeration of a refrigerator relies on the heat transfer inside the refrigerator, which can be imagined as an "adventure of refrigerants".

In the first step of the adventure, the low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant liquid enters the evaporator , absorbs the heat inside the refrigerator through vaporization and evaporates, and turns from liquid to vapor here.

In the second step, the refrigerant vapor is compressed into a high temperature and high pressure state by the compressor .

In the third step, the refrigerant, which is already a high-temperature and high-pressure vapor, transfers heat to the surrounding air through the condenser, and then cools down and reduces its pressure to become a liquid .

At this time, the refrigerant returns to its original state, and the low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant liquid returns to the evaporator to start a new round of refrigeration cycle.

If the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the refrigerator is greater, the refrigeration system can absorb more heat, and the refrigerator compressor requires more mechanical energy to operate. In other words, the refrigerator has a greater workload. Over time, it not only wastes electricity, but also the refrigerator!

Therefore, if you want to keep your refrigerator dry for a long time and well, first reduce the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the refrigerator! In different seasons, reasonably adjust the refrigerator's refrigeration temperature and adjust the thermostat to a suitable gear to control the temperature difference. In summer, when the temperature is high, you should adjust the refrigerator's refrigeration temperature higher (i.e., lower gear); in winter, when the temperature is low, you should adjust the refrigerator's refrigeration temperature lower (i.e., higher gear).

Professor V has highlighted the key points! Take out your notebook and write them down! In different seasons, this is how to adjust the refrigerator's gears!

Have you learned how to adjust the refrigerator?

Practical tips: It is generally not recommended to adjust the thermostat to the forced cooling position.

Because when the temperature of the refrigerator is too low, the compressor will continue to run and the refrigerator will almost always be in a non-stop state. Not only will it consume a lot of electricity, it may also damage the service life of the refrigerator and even cause a "strike."
