What should you do if you see a baby bird on the roadside? Should you just pick it up?

In the hot summer, walking in the greenways, parks, and mountains of the city, you may occasionally encounter some fallen birds. In the recent rainy season, there was a lot of rain. The Haining Natural Resources and Planning Bureau received a series of calls from caring people in the society saying that they found baby birds that fell on the ground and wanted to send them to the wildlife rescue department. On social platforms, many netizens also asked for help after picking up birds.

But do they really need human help?

**Experts say: Not necessary! ** It is recommended that the general public do not pick up baby birds on the ground at will.

Because this period of time is the breeding season for birds, many baby birds at this stage are learning how to survive. When the young birds grow to a certain stage, their parents will take them out of the nest and go to the wild to learn how to fly and forage, so it is common for young birds to fall from the nest or tree to the ground.

Although to humans it seems that the bird is particularly pitiful because it has been injured and cannot fly, in fact, the father and mother bird are hiding in the dark, watching anxiously, waiting for people to leave so that they can rescue their children.

Therefore, we would like to remind everyone that picking up baby birds that have fallen to the ground is not true rescue and may even hurt them.

The correct way to deal with it is to ensure the safety of the young birds, and then put them back to the original nest or put them in a nearby hidden place (if they are wading birds, they can be placed near a water source) so that their parents can find them by their calls.

Don't rescue it easily. The ones who can take the best care of the bird are always its parents, and the best guidance comes from nature.

Birds are like humans

Growing up requires parents to impart knowledge and experience

As long as the chicks are not in danger

In most cases, no human intervention is required.

Please don't do bad things with good intentions.
