Are there any carcinogens hidden in your home? I suggest you check it out right away

Home is our warm harbor.

After we have worked hard outside and are exhausted physically and mentally,

A place to rest and recuperate,

It is the nest to which the weary birds return.

With the development of science and technology and the improvement of living standards, the airtightness of modern houses has decreased compared to traditional houses, which makes it easy for harmful substances to accumulate. Among them, some hidden dangers are extremely harmful to children, and some hidden dangers can cause the whole family to enter the ICU or emergency room of the hospital. If you are not careful, serious illnesses will take advantage of the opportunity to sneak in! Be alert!

The first is panel furniture.

Wood contains a certain amount of formaldehyde, but it is rare for the formaldehyde content to exceed the standard because of the wood raw material itself. The formaldehyde content of furniture exceeds the standard mainly due to synthetic board furniture. Furniture made of this board has a high formaldehyde content. Because these boards are made by mixing sawdust and a large amount of adhesive, there is a lot of formaldehyde in them!

The second is the fabric sofa.

Fabric sofas are commonly used furniture, which are very comfortable and popular. However, fabric sofas are filled with a lot of sponges and need a lot of adhesives to fix them on wooden frames, so the amount of formaldehyde is also high.

The third is wall paint.

The biggest harm of interior wall paint to people is the respiratory system, and it also has different degrees of damage to other systems. The toxic substances in it will accumulate in the body for a long time and generally will not disappear. The 3-6 months after the paint is used is also the most likely period to harm human health. According to experts, the harmful substances contained in paint and putty mainly include volatile organic compounds (VOC), benzene, formaldehyde, heavy metals (lead, mercury, etc.), etc.

Therefore, you should choose paint that does not smell pungent, so that it contains relatively less harmful substances.

Carcinogens in the kitchen

You have to cook every day, and the kitchen that you are most familiar with is actually the most dangerous place.

First, the chopping board: aflatoxin (the most serious carcinogen known to date and the biggest cause of liver cancer).

If the cutting board is not cleaned regularly, the remaining food residue will deteriorate and breed Aspergillus flavus in a dark and humid environment, producing aflatoxin, which is highly toxic and may induce cancer. Aflatoxin is a highly toxic substance that is 68 times more toxic than arsenic and is the strongest biological carcinogen we know of. 0.05 mg is a carcinogenic dose.

Next is: Oil bottle: epoxy propionaldehyde.

Beijing TV's "I'm a Great Doctor" column once tested the oil bottles commonly used at home and found that:

The residual oil in an oil can with oil stains is much more susceptible to oil oxidation and rancidity than in a new oil can. If you pour the newly bought oil directly into this "contaminated" oil can, the new oil will also become "dangerous".

The third is oil smoke.

Experts have conducted experiments and found that if the oil is heated to 150°C, acrolein, the main component of oil smoke, will be generated. Acrolein has a strong spicy taste and is highly irritating to the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes, and throat, and may cause rhinitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis and other diseases. Experiments have found that when rapeseed oil and soybean oil are heated to 270~280°C, the oil mist condensates produced may cause cell chromosome damage and may cause cancer. Some people also like to let the oil burn when cooking, when the oil temperature can reach 350°C, which is more harmful to health. In addition to the possibility of inducing respiratory diseases, there is also a potential risk of cancer. Generally speaking, if the oil is already smoking, it means that the oil temperature has reached the limit, and the harmful substances in the oil smoke are the largest at this time.

Fourth is the granite countertop in the kitchen.

Radon, which is formed naturally from the radioactive decay of uranium in rocks and soil, can increase your risk of lung cancer, especially if you also smoke. If you live in an area with high levels of uranium and radium in rock, you could be exposed to radon through cracks in your foundation. Granite countertops in your kitchen can also expose you to radon.

Molds like hot and humid environments, and bathrooms are likely to become "dangerous areas". Molds may appear in corners, tile joints, bathroom curtains, faucets, etc. But you probably didn't expect that bathroom sealants are likely to be "heavily contaminated with mold". Data shows that bathroom sealants are the dirtiest place in the world, with 70% of households reaching heavy contamination in bacterial tests and 56% of households being found to be heavily contaminated in mold tests.

To reduce the growth of mold in the bathroom, you need to control the temperature and humidity of the bathroom. If you have a dark bathroom at home, you can install an exhaust fan. After taking a shower, you should turn on the exhaust fan for a long time. It is best to leave the door open and draw the shower curtain to dry.
