Eyes may feel dry, stinging, or even like sand is in them. This is actually the eyes asking for help: "I'm tired, give me a rest!" The more timely the rest, the clearer the eyes. This is not only a simple truth, but also an important way to maintain eye health.

Eyes are also "light-hungry" friends. When we stay indoors for a long time, especially when the light is low, our eyes become more easily fatigued. When we look at our phone or computer in a dim room, our eyes need to constantly adjust their focus, which makes them more easily fatigued. This is why outdoor activities and sunlight are so important for eye health. Sunlight is not only good for the body, but also a good friend of the eyes, helping to prevent myopia from worsening.

"Start eye exercises now!" I believe this is a childhood memory for many Chinese people. Although it seems simple, it does have a certain scientific basis. By massaging the acupuncture points around the eyes, eye exercises can promote blood circulation and help relieve eye fatigue. It cannot cure myopia or other eye diseases, but it is particularly effective in relieving the discomfort caused by long-term eye use. It is a simple and effective way to rest, especially for students and office workers.

In addition to eye exercises, outdoor activities are also a good way to protect your eyes. Studies have shown that two hours of outdoor activities a day can significantly reduce the risk of myopia in children and adolescents. Blue light blocking glasses are designed to block the blue light emitted by electronic screens, thereby reducing eye irritation and relieving eye fatigue. For people who use computers or mobile phones for a long time, this kind of glasses can indeed help reduce discomfort. However, it cannot prevent or treat myopia, nor can it replace rest. Whether you wear blue light blocking glasses or not, regularly resting your eyes and adjusting the screen brightness are still the key to protecting your eyes.

Humidifiers are very useful in dry environments, especially in air-conditioned rooms, where low humidity can exacerbate dry eyes. Using a humidifier can make the air more moist and relieve eye discomfort. It should be noted that we should use humidifiers in moderation. An overly humid environment may breed bacteria and bring new health problems.

As for eye drops, they can indeed temporarily relieve dry eyes, but the abuse of eye drops may cause corneal damage. Therefore, eye drops need to be used in moderation as recommended by doctors and should not be overly relied on.

Protecting your eyes does not require high-tech equipment or complicated methods. The most important thing is to develop good eye habits and a healthy lifestyle. For example, keep a proper distance when reading, avoid using your eyes in too dark or too bright environments, give your eyes a rest regularly when working, and eat more foods rich in vitamin A and lutein, such as carrots, spinach and blueberries, which can provide the necessary nutrition for the eyes.

Eyes are the bridge between us and the world, and protecting eye health requires long-term persistence. The real "eye care action" should be integrated into every day. Don't wait until your eyes send out a distress signal before taking action. Every short break, every outdoor activity, and every good eye habit will make your eyes brighter, and make our vision clearer and more colorful.
