Lao Duan said: The future of cable network is integrated TV

After the launch of iQiyi Ultra HD Box and TCL iQiyi TV, I often discussed with my peers what the best user experience of TV in the future would be. I said it was converged TV. Converged TV is to organically combine "DVB, OTT, ITV interaction" on a TV terminal. Users only need one remote control and one TV interface to organically integrate cable live TV channels, Internet on-demand videos, and the interaction between viewers, programs, and multiple screens. All live channels and each column and content can be used as an entrance to related recommended on-demand content, and vice versa, on-demand is also an entrance to live broadcasts. This is actually the best experience for watching videos, and viewers can watch whatever they want. The operation is simple and convenient.

Many colleagues told me that cable networks and live broadcasts will die out. In the long run, I agree that all networks will be IP-based, but in the short and medium term, the cable network's architecture, operating system, and policy factors all give it a greater relative advantage over IPTV and Internet transmission live channels, whether in terms of performance or price. Moreover, live channels and live videos will never die out. I think live broadcast and on-demand are like making a phone call and sending WeChat messages. One is like a man buying things, and the other is like a woman shopping in a mall. News, sports, variety shows, and habits, these four types of videos must be live broadcasted. The audience's demand for live broadcasts (VT duration) will decrease. For example, the behavior of waiting in front of the TV at 7:30 every night to watch the weather forecast and waiting in front of the TV at 8 o'clock every night will disappear, but the ARPU value of the remaining live broadcast content that is "qualified" for live broadcasts will increase, and the value of those programs that are worth the audience waiting to watch at a specified time and place will inevitably increase. Multi-screen interaction is also a commonplace, but multi-screen interaction is actually a broad topic. It includes the interaction between mobile phones and TV screens, the interaction between viewers and programs, and the interaction between viewers and viewers. Humans are social animals, so they need more communication and interaction when consuming videos. So how can we organically combine DVB+OTT+ITV to create a user experience of "integrated TV"?

Let me keep you in suspense for now. In 2014, CCBN iQIYI will jointly launch DVB+OTT+ITV "convergent TV" with strategic partners. You will see the DVB+OTT+ITV three-mode set-top box that is most suitable for China's overall HD migration. The absolutely subversive experience and absolutely subversive price will make the HD overall migration of cable networks, occupying the DVB+OTT entrance, expanding new channels and other strategies possible overnight! Stay tuned!
