5G in China: Outlook and Regional Comparison

On the morning of June 29, at the "5G Spectrum and Policy Forum" held during the 2017 Shanghai Mobile Conference, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and GSMA jointly released the "5G in China: Outlook and Regional Comparison" report, which they jointly researched and compiled.

Pan Feng, deputy chief engineer of the Institute of Industry and Planning of CAICT, released the report on behalf of CAICT and interpreted it. In his speech on "China's 5G Market Outlook", he elaborated on the market prospects, network deployment and future prospects, and said that from the perspective of future market prospects, the personal market is undoubtedly still very important, but the enterprise market will bring greater market growth space for 5G, and operators should focus on the enterprise vertical market in the early stages of development. Both independent and non-independent networking routes are very important. Chinese operators such as China Mobile prefer independent networking, but 5G and 4G will coexist for quite a long time.

As for the future, China is expected to realize 5G commercialization in 2020, and it is expected that there will be 428 million 5G users in 2025. China's 5G industry strongly supports the formation of a global unified 5G standard, which will help to quickly form economies of scale and realize the potential benefits of 5G.
