Tesla Model S driver survives German autobahn crash

Despite the safety issues that still plague Tesla, the Tesla Model S and Model X remain the safest vehicles on the road today. In fact, the Model S received a 5-star safety rating in every category during testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2013, earning a safety certification that only 1% of vehicles tested receive.

The Model S is a 4,800-pound automotive fortress that is expertly designed to absorb the forces of a crash and protect the lives of its passengers. In a crash just a few months ago, a Model S flew 82 feet in the air before slamming into the ground, and although the vehicle was nearly torn apart, all five occupants managed to escape without life-threatening injuries.

Recently, a Model S crashed into an 18-wheeler at high speed on a German autobahn and survived. Although the driver was seriously injured, he was able to leave the car without any help. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and there is no evidence that Tesla's autopilot software is related to the accident.
