Foreign media reported that Volvo may go public next year. Volvo responded that it has no plans for an IPO.

Recently there have been reports that Volvo may consider going public next year. On December 14, Volvo said it currently has no plans for an IPO.

Swedish business daily Dagens Industri cited unnamed sources as saying Volvo and its parent company Geely Group may decide this year whether to list Volvo in 2017.

A Volvo spokesman told Reuters: "We have no plans for an IPO at the moment. This question should be asked to our shareholders (Geely)."

Volvo's sales and earnings have been on a rising trend, leading to much speculation over the past year that the company might go public.

In the first 11 months of this year, Volvo delivered 473,528 vehicles worldwide, up 7% year-on-year. The XC90 SUV played a significant role in this. At the same time, Volvo will also achieve a sales record for three consecutive years this year.

Volvo returned to the international bond market earlier this year, issuing its first corporate bond of 500 million euros (about 3.67 billion yuan). Volvo Cars said the proceeds from the financing will be used for general corporate purposes, with the aim of improving the company's financial flexibility and broadening its financing channels. Volvo Cars turned a profit in the first quarter of this year.
