Four complaints in three days about Tesla being suspected of illegally monitoring workers

According to foreign media reports, several workers at Tesla's Fremont factory in California have filed a lawsuit with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), accusing Tesla of illegally monitoring and oppressing employees seeking unionization.

Between April 18 and April 20, the NLRB received four separate cases against Tesla, and the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) was one of the plaintiffs in one of them. All four cases accused Tesla of having illegal coercive regulations and practices such as surveillance and changing the company's employment terms and conditions.

Recently, workers at the factory have called for unionization of the factory. Workers claim that the working conditions at the factory are unfair, while Tesla CEO Elon Musk says unionization goes against Tesla's mission.

In the NLRB document released last week, the plaintiff stated that Tesla violated the National Labor Relations Act in February this year. The document pointed out that in February this year, Tesla "intimidates, supervises, or shows signs of supervision" against employees who promote or accept union culture.

Among the employees who filed the complaint was Jose Moran, who complained on social media in February about low wages and long working hours at Tesla's Fremont factory, and therefore needed unionization. Musk immediately responded to the employee's accusation, saying that he was bought by the UAW, and sent an email to all employees to defend Moran's remarks.

"I know what my rights are and I know how to exercise them," Jonathan Galescu, an employee involved in the appeal, said in a statement. "I hope the company will take employees' opinions and feedback positively and that employees and management can work together to improve the company's processes and safety."

The NLRB's office in Oakland, California, will handle the case against Tesla. The NLRB's official website shows that the investigation will take 7 to 12 weeks. As of press time, the UAW has not yet responded, and a Tesla spokesperson said that it has noticed the relevant documents from the NLRB. "Tesla believes that this complaint is completely worthless, and in order to cooperate with the NLRB's investigation, we will respond in due course."

Confidentiality Agreement

Tesla has set many rules for its employees, including that they are not allowed to discuss Tesla products with the media and cannot disclose work-related information on social media. Tesla pointed out that this practice is only to protect trade secrets, and many automobile factories have similar regulations. However, many labor rights activists believe that Tesla's practice is a bit too much. At the beginning of this year, five California lawyers sent a letter to Tesla, urging Tesla to modify relevant regulations to comply with labor laws.
