According to the latest data released by the China Passenger Car Association, the wholesale sales of narrow passenger cars in China reached 2,553,280 units in November 2017, a year-on-year increase of 0.2% from 2,548,550 units in November 2016 and a month-on-month increase of 10.2% from 2,316,035 units in October. From January to November this year, the cumulative wholesale sales of narrow passenger cars reached 21,617,733 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%. The market rebounded significantly at the end of the year, and the overall auto market was in a steady upward trend. Some experts pointed out that despite the high sales base in the same period last year and the decline in purchase tax incentives this year, the auto market sales in November continued to grow year-on-year, indicating that the structural driving effect of the tax reduction policy is still obvious. In the sprint stage at the end of the year, with the overall automobile market showing an upward trend, many automakers set new monthly sales records in November. Specifically, among the more than 70 automakers in the country included in the statistics, four companies, including BYD Daimler, Dongfeng Infiniti, Huatai Automobile and SAIC Maxus, saw year-on-year growth of more than 100%. In addition, Fujian Daimler, Dongfeng Qichen, Geely Automobile and FAW Jilin also saw significant growth. At the same time, sales of new energy companies also performed well. For example, Zhidou Electric's year-on-year growth reached 62.11%, with 4,095 vehicles sold; Han Teng Automobile's year-on-year growth reached 45.69%, with 7,401 vehicles sold... However, some automakers performed poorly this month. For example, Jiangling Motors' year-on-year decline reached 92.53%, and Changan Peugeot Citroen's sales fell sharply from 1,255 vehicles last year to 414 vehicles... Top 15 passenger car companies by sales: SAIC-GM retains top spot, Geely returns to top five Looking at the TOP15 passenger car sales, among the top three, SAIC-GM continued to retain the championship with sales of 217,104 vehicles, while SAIC Volkswagen rose from third place last month to second place with sales of 205,257 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 6.75%. SAIC-GM-Wuling performed well, selling 184,734 new cars in November, with a year-on-year increase of 14.91% from 1.3% in October, surpassing FAW-Volkswagen to rank third. This is also the highest sales volume of SAIC-GM-Wuling in the first 11 months of this year. Subsequently, the rankings of No. 4-15 changed significantly compared with last month. In the fierce market competition, many automakers with adjacent rankings swapped positions. It is worth noting that the independent dark horse Geely set a new annual sales record with 141,312 vehicles in November, surpassing Dongfeng Nissan, which increased slightly by 0.18% year-on-year, and ranked fifth. This is also Geely's return to the top five after July. At the same time, Geely's year-on-year growth rate in November was as high as 37.85%, the largest increase among the top 15 companies. It is worth mentioning that Chery Automobile also ranked among the top 15 for the first time in several months with sales of 54,345 vehicles this month. In addition, Dongfeng Honda and SAIC Passenger Cars also performed well this month, ranking 11th and 15th with year-on-year growth rates of 10.17% and 27.72% respectively. While the above-mentioned automakers have achieved bumper sales, nearly half of them are quite disappointed. Among them, Changan Automobile, Beijing Hyundai, and Changan Ford continued their decline from last month. Changan Automobile's decline narrowed to 2.66% from last month, while Beijing Hyundai and Changan Ford's declines further dropped to 25.19% and 18.19% respectively. Beijing Hyundai and Changan Ford's cumulative sales from January to November were 664,368 and 741,199 respectively, which is still a long way from the million-unit target set at the beginning of the year. The two companies still need to move forward with heavy burdens. Domestic car companies: Great Wall surpasses Changan, Chery takes the lead From the perspective of domestic automakers, Geely continues to hold the top spot with a lead of 22,027 units over the second place Great Wall Motor. Geely achieved car sales of 141,312 units in November, a year-on-year increase of 37.85%. The cumulative sales from January to November were 1,094,345 units, a year-on-year increase of 65.32%, basically achieving the goal of 1.1 million units. Changan Automobile sold 102,952 units in November, a year-on-year decrease of 2.66% and a slight increase of 2.64% from the previous month, giving up the runner-up position it had held for several months to Great Wall. Great Wall Motor grew rapidly during the year-end sprint period, with sales rising from 98,590 units last month to 119,285 units this month, a month-on-month increase of 21%. "WEY"'s VV7, VV5 and Haval SUV family's new member M6 have all broken records, with sales exceeding 10,000 in November. Among them, "WEY" sold 20,460 units, an increase of 26.6%. M6 performed well, with 10,059 new cars sold. The three have pushed Great Wall's sales to a new high with strong growth. In addition to the top three domestic automakers, SAIC Passenger Car, GAC Trumpchi, BAIC Yinxiang, FAW Car, and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor all performed well this month. SAIC Passenger Car, in particular, saw its sales in November increase by 27.72% year-on-year to 54,098 units, second only to Geely. Chery Automobile also performed well, selling 54,345 new cars in November. Although it fell by 20.02% year-on-year, it still surpassed SAIC Passenger Car with a month-on-month increase of 25.3%, ranking fourth among domestic automakers. Chery's sales growth was mainly due to the good market performance of its three major brands, Chery, Qoros, and Chery Jaguar Land Rover, as well as the continued strong sales momentum in overseas markets. While the above-mentioned automakers have achieved good sales, we have also noticed that some automakers, such as BYD, JAC, and Beijing Auto, have performed poorly and continued to decline. Joint venture car companies: Korean and French companies continue to recover From the sales of the top 15 joint venture passenger car companies, compared with October, the number of companies with year-on-year decline this month has increased to seven, including FAW-Volkswagen, FAW-Toyota, and GAC Toyota. In addition, Changan Ford, Beijing Hyundai, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, and Dongfeng Yueda Kia still have year-on-year declines. Among them, the decline of Beijing Hyundai and Changan Ford further declined from 11.1% and 5.8% last month to 25.19% and 18.19%, while the year-on-year decline of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile and Dongfeng Yueda Kia narrowed from 21.2% and 39.3% last month to 12.95% and 37.11% this month. It is worth noting that the Sino-Korean joint venture automakers such as Beijing Hyundai and Dongfeng Yueda Kia achieved a month-on-month increase of 18.7% and 17.6% respectively. The main reason for the recovery of Korean cars is the continuous launch of new models and frequent price cuts and promotions. For example, models such as Lingdong and Yuena have launched big discounts, and Hyundai ix35 has also been launched at a price lower than that of domestic SUVs. It can be seen that Korean car companies are also fighting hard to boost sales. However, due to the severe decline in the first half of the year, Dongfeng Yueda Kia's cumulative sales from January to November were 305,186 units, and it is impossible to achieve the original annual sales target of 700,000 units this year; Beijing Hyundai's cumulative sales from January to November were 664,368 units. After lowering the annual sales target of 1.25 million units originally set at the beginning of the year to 800,000 units, it is expected to complete this year's sales plan. In addition to the German and American brands, Japanese joint venture car companies have also continued their good momentum this year. Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Honda, and GAC Honda continued the growth momentum of last month, achieving year-on-year growth of 0.18%, 10.17%, and 3.82%, respectively. GAC Toyota sold 36,826 vehicles in November, and the cumulative sales from January to November were 409,055 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 5.12%. There is no doubt that the annual target of 435,000 vehicles will be achieved. The sales of French cars represented by Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile also continued to pick up, with sales reaching 50,000 in November, a month-on-month increase of 16.76%, and a year-on-year decline from 21.2% in October to 12.95%. In terms of growth, most automakers have increased their sales to varying degrees compared to last month, with Dongfeng Honda showing a significant increase of 27.65%. At the same time, as domestic consumption upgrades, the luxury car market continues to grow, with Brilliance BMW and Beijing Benz increasing by 25.27% and 6.15% respectively compared to last month. However, Changan Ford, GAC Honda and FAW-Volkswagen saw a decrease compared to last month. The end of 2017 is approaching, and we are entering the sprint stage before the year-end assessment. Can automakers achieve their goals as planned, or even exceed them? The specific details remain to be seen!
