Tesla has applied for a new patent to isolate defective battery cells to make batteries safer

According to foreign media reports, Tesla recently applied for a new patent to improve battery safety by isolating defective battery cells to prevent them from having a negative impact on normally functioning battery cells.

Because battery cells generate heat during the charging process and when releasing energy, Tesla found that defective battery cells would generate heat, which would affect the function of surrounding battery cells and usually lead to continuous battery failure.

To solve this problem, Tesla conducted technological research and development and applied for a patent.

Tesla monitors and adjusts the temperature and pressure within the battery pack by creating an interconnected layer that isolates faulty components.

Tesla, despite its leadership in battery technology, is still innovating.

Tesla Model 3 is equipped with the latest generation of batteries, battery cell 21700. Tesla has proven that this battery cell has a higher energy density than any electric vehicle battery cell because it significantly reduces the cobalt content, greatly increases the nickel content, and the battery system maintains overall thermal stability. Tesla said that the nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathode chemical composition of the new Tesla battery cell is lower than that of the next generation of competitors' batteries.
