Tesla's new Model S is exposed, with a rectangular steering wheel and no gear lever, which subverts the previous control method

Tesla has always been bold and radical in design, and the sense of science fiction has become a major feature of the brand. At the end of January, Tesla announced the new Model S and Model X models. The appearance has not changed much, but the design of the cockpit has once again subverted people's cognition.

Recently, the real car pictures of Tesla's new Model S were exposed. Just like the previous official pictures, the "rectangular" steering wheel particularly attracted attention.

However, when driving the new Model S, car owners still need to adapt to the new steering wheel. When turning at large angles, there is a significant difference in control between the rectangular steering wheel and the round steering wheel.

There are also reports that a rectangular steering wheel may be provided as an optional accessory, and the default model will still offer a traditional round steering wheel.

In addition, Tesla further promotes its simple design concept. The turn signal lever and gear lever are cancelled, and these operations will be achieved through the steering wheel buttons.

However, this may not comply with the laws and regulations of some countries and regions, and Tesla may need to adjust hardware specifications for sales areas at that time.

In terms of power, the new Model S will continue to use a dual-motor design, and the high-performance Plaid version will be equipped with a three-motor drive with a combined maximum power of more than 1,100 horsepower, and can continue to reach 320 kilometers per hour.

According to official data, the Plaid version of Tesla Model S will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.1 seconds, and its estimated range is over 840 km.

Due to the huge improvements in interior and configuration, the price of the new Model S will increase by US$10,000, and the price of the entry-level long-range version in China will increase by about RMB 66,000 to RMB 799,990.

However, the price of the Plaid version will drop by RMB 174,910 compared to the previous high-performance version to RMB 999,990, and the price difference between versions will be greatly narrowed.
