On May 20, GAC Aion once again released the lithium iron phosphate (bullet-proof battery) puncture test, setting a new height for lithium iron phosphate battery safety. The most stringent national standard needle puncture test, certifying the highest safety lithium iron phosphate battery Previously, in order to verify the safety of the "magazine battery", Dr. Liu Shiqiang, chief expert of China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. and one of the drafters of the national battery safety standard, led a team to conduct a needle puncture thermal diffusion test on a whole pack of ternary lithium batteries equipped with the safety technology of the magazine battery system, achieving a historic breakthrough in the safety of ternary lithium batteries. In this test, a whole pack of lithium iron phosphate (ordinary battery) and a whole pack of lithium iron phosphate (magazine battery) were used for comparative testing. The test conditions also chose the most stringent test conditions of the national standard, that is, the needle puncture test was conducted under the conditions of the thickest steel needle diameter of 8mm and 100% SOC power. The test results show that after the steel needle pierced the battery cell of the lithium iron phosphate (ordinary battery) pack and triggered thermal runaway, the voltage dropped and the temperature rose, with the highest temperature reaching 329.4°C, and smoke appeared, which lasted for 16 minutes; while after the lithium iron phosphate (magazine battery) pack was pierced, the highest temperature was only 51.1°C, and after 48 hours of rest, the single cell voltage dropped to 0V, the temperature dropped to room temperature, and there was no smoke, fire or explosion, and the battery pack was stable. Open the battery system shell, and its internal structure is intact. Judging from the test results, the lithium iron phosphate pack equipped with the magazine battery system safety technology did not emit smoke and the temperature was only 51.1°C compared to the ordinary pack. It is the power battery with the best performance in the needle puncture thermal runaway experiment, setting a new height in the safety of lithium iron phosphate batteries. End the route competition and fully meet the needs of users in different travel scenarios Under the same driving range (600km), the weight of the whole battery pack of ternary lithium can be reduced by more than 100-150kg compared with other lithium iron phosphate batteries, which is equivalent to the weight of 1.5-2 adults. The lightweight of the whole vehicle can significantly improve the handling and acceleration performance of the vehicle, which is suitable for customers who pursue driving performance and ultra-long driving range; secondly, the driving range of ternary lithium batteries in low temperature environments is about 10% higher than that of lithium iron phosphate batteries, and it will achieve longer driving range in winter. Lithium iron phosphate has an ultra-high cycle life of 4000+ times, which is twice that of other ternary lithium batteries, and at the same time, it has a lower cost, which is suitable for customers with high-frequency charging needs. Therefore, the two technical routes of lithium iron phosphate batteries and ternary lithium batteries can meet the different travel needs of users. The emergence of the magazine battery has made batteries of different chemical systems safe and non-flammable, providing the industry with a new way of thinking to solve battery safety issues, ending the dispute over industry technology routes, and fully meeting the needs of users in different travel scenarios. Safety never ends.
