[Shanghai, November 5, 2023] Volkswagen Group (China) appeared at the 6th China International Import Expo with the theme of "Accelerating to the New, Thinking Green for the Future", sharing the group's future development vision in the fields of sustainability, intelligence and electrification and "In China, for China". The group's brands exhibited five new energy vehicle models, including one model that debuted in Asia, and software company CARIAD China brought its cutting-edge software development technology - the software innovation simulator "Yuanchuang Rubik's Cube". Based on the goal of achieving carbon neutrality globally by 2050, the group focused on showcasing the environmental protection measures taken in China at this CIIE. Since the first CIIE in 2018, Volkswagen Group (China) has participated in this event for six consecutive years.

Accelerating electrification transformation in China

Volkswagen Group (China) is accelerating innovation at the "China speed" and deepening its close ties with Chinese customers. To achieve this goal, the Group has taken a series of forward-looking strategic measures in accordance with the "2030 Goal" in China. The Group and its brands are advancing the layout of new energy vehicle products at full speed. By 2030, Volkswagen Group aims to launch more than 30 pure electric models to lead the era of intelligent connected vehicles. Volkswagen's first pure electric sedan ID.7 will be officially delivered to customers this year. Volkswagen Anhui will start production this year, and it is expected that a Volkswagen brand model will roll off the production line in Anhui in early 2024. At the same time, Audi FAW New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. plans to officially start production in Changchun by the end of 2024 to produce Audi models based on the PPE platform.

With the continuous transformation of the industry and the increasing innovation of technology, China has become a leader in the global automotive industry. Adhering to the strategy of "In China, for China", Volkswagen Group is strengthening its local R&D capabilities to respond more agilely to the needs of Chinese customers.

Volkswagen Group has invested approximately 1 billion euros to establish Volkswagen (China) Technology Co., Ltd., an advanced R&D, innovation and procurement center focusing on intelligent connected electric vehicles, in Hefei, aiming to shorten the development cycle of the group's new products and technologies by approximately 30% while further strengthening customer focus. CARIAD China, a software company under the group, is actively promoting innovative development to better meet the needs of Chinese customers.

While continuously improving its own strength, Volkswagen Group has become an organic part of China's development ecosystem by continuing to deepen long-term joint venture partnerships and create new cooperative relationships. The group has joined hands with Chinese high-tech companies such as Horizon, Guoxuan High-tech and Thundersoft to efficiently develop exclusive technical solutions for the Chinese market. At the same time, the Volkswagen brand cooperated with Xiaopeng Motors to jointly develop two technologically advanced Volkswagen brand electric models for China's mid-size car market, providing customers with more product choices. Volkswagen Group (China) implements the "goTOzero" environmental declaration to promote China's sustainable development. All the group's production bases in China are actively reducing their impact on the environment by reducing carbon emissions, reducing energy consumption, reducing waste, improving water resource utilization efficiency and protecting biodiversity. In 2022, Volkswagen Group's carbon dioxide emissions in China's production process will be reduced by 41% compared with 2015 levels. As of the end of October 2023, CAMS's charging network has covered 199 cities across the country, with 1,341 super charging stations and 11,574 charging terminals. By 2025, the Group plans to build 17,000 fast charging terminals across the country.

As the first pre-production model based on the PPE platform and a new electronic architecture, the Audi Q6 e-tron will be the first model of Audi's new generation of high-end intelligent connected electric vehicles. Adhering to the sustainable vision, the four-ring brand has integrated low-carbon development throughout the entire value chain, promoted the green transformation of the industrial chain in China, and helped China achieve its "dual carbon" goals. In terms of smart production, Audi FAW New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. is not only Audi's first pure electric vehicle production base in China, but will also set an advanced benchmark in sustainability and digitalization. Audi brings Q6 e-tron prototype to China for the first time at the 2023 CIIE

Porsche brought two of its most representative electrified models this year - the super concept sports car Mission X and the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupé, to show the audience its cutting-edge propositions and future vision in the field of sustainability. Porsche Mission X, released in July this year, made its Asian debut on the stage of this CIIE.
