China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance: my country's power battery installed capacity will reach 294.6GWh in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 90.7%

The China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance recently released monthly power battery data for December 2022.

In terms of output, in December, China's power battery output totaled 52.5GWh, a year-on-year increase of 65.9% and a month-on-month decrease of 15.8% . Among them, the output of ternary batteries was 18.5GWh, accounting for 35.2% of the total output, a year-on-year increase of 61.5% and a month-on-month decrease of 20.5%; the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 33.9GWh, accounting for 64.6% of the total output, a year-on-year increase of 69.0% and a month-on-month decrease of 13.0%. From January to December, China's cumulative power battery output was 545.9GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 148.5%. Among them, the cumulative output of ternary batteries was 212.5GWh, accounting for 38.9% of the total output, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 126.4%; the cumulative output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 332.4GWh, accounting for 60.9% of the total output, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 165.1%.

In terms of sales, in December, China's power battery sales totaled 52.2GWh, a year-on-year increase of 47.1% . Among them, the sales of ternary batteries were 21.6GWh, accounting for 41.3% of the total sales, an increase of 82.1% year-on-year; the sales of lithium iron phosphate batteries were 30.5GWh, accounting for 58.4% of the total sales, an increase of 29.8 % year-on-year. From January to December, the cumulative sales of power batteries in China reached 465.5GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 150.3% . Among them, the cumulative sales of ternary batteries were 193.5GWh, accounting for 41.6% of the total sales, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 143.2%; the cumulative sales of lithium iron phosphate batteries were 271.0GWh, accounting for 58.2% of the total sales, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 155.7%.

In December, China's power battery companies exported a total of 9.4GWh of batteries . Among them, ternary batteries exported 6.1GWh, accounting for 65.5% of total exports; lithium iron phosphate batteries exported 3.2GWh, accounting for 34.3% of total exports. From January to December, China's power battery companies exported a total of 68.1GWh of batteries . Among them, ternary batteries exported a total of 46.9GWh, accounting for 68.9% of total exports; lithium iron phosphate batteries exported a total of 20.9GWh, accounting for 30.7% of total exports.

In terms of installed capacity, in December, China's installed capacity of power batteries was 36.1GWh, a year-on-year increase of 37.9% and a month-on-month increase of 5.5% . Among them, the installed capacity of ternary batteries was 11.4GWh, accounting for 31.6% of the total installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of 3.3% and a month-on-month increase of 3.5%; the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 24.7GWh, accounting for 68.3% of the total installed capacity, a year-on-year increase of 64.0% and a month-on-month increase of 6.9%. From January to December, China's cumulative installed capacity of power batteries was 294.6GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 90.7% . Among them, the cumulative installed capacity of ternary batteries was 110.4GWh, accounting for 37.5% of the total installed capacity, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 48.6%; the cumulative installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 183.8GWh, accounting for 62.4% of the total installed capacity, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 130.2%.

In December, a total of 41 power battery companies in China's new energy vehicle market achieved vehicle installation and matching , 6 fewer than the same period last year. The top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies installed 29.1GWh, 31.8GWh, and 35.1GWh of power batteries, accounting for 80.5%, 88.0%, and 97.0% of the total installed capacity, respectively. From January to December, a total of 57 power battery companies in China's new energy vehicle market achieved vehicle installation and matching , 1 fewer than the same period last year. The top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies installed 230.4GWh, 251.4GWh, and 279.8GWh of power batteries, accounting for 78.2%, 85.3%, and 95.0% of the total installed capacity, respectively.

The China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance also announced the top 15 companies in terms of domestic power battery installation volume from January to December 2022. Among them, CATL ranked first with a share of 48.20% , and BYD, Sinovation, Guoxuan High-tech, and Sunwoda ranked 2-5 with shares of 23.45%, 6.53%, 4.52%, and 2.62% respectively. In addition, the 6th to 15th places are EVE Energy, Honeycomb Energy, Farasis Energy, LG New Energy, Ruipu Lanjun, Jiewei Power, Zhengli New Energy, Do-Fluoride, Lishen, and Penghui Energy.
