At the WWDC 2014 conference, Apple brought iOS 8, Mac OS X 10.10, and announced a large number of business updates, but one thing was almost completely forgotten: map service. For maps, Apple only said that there will be improvements such as vector maps in China, and iOS 8 will also allow businesses to add more indoor positioning data, but that's all. It's too perfunctory for such an important business. Why is this? There is a source saying: "In fact, (Apple Maps) has many improvements, but they didn't make it into iOS 8." Previously, there were indeed reports that iOS 8's maps would have major changes, including enhanced and more reliable data, more points of interest, better specific location labels (airports/highways/parks), a cleaner map interface, public transportation navigation services, integration of virtual reality, etc., all very impressive, but in the end, none of them came true. A whistleblower said: "Many developers left the company, and none of the iOS 8 map improvements were completed on time. It was basically the failure of the project manager and engineering manager, because the task planning was a mess and the developers had to run around between multiple projects." Another source confirmed this and further revealed: "I would say that the biggest problem with the failure of the (Apple Maps) project was planning, project managers, and internal policies, not the developers leaving." According to this, it was the chaos of the project that drove many developers away. After two years, Apple Maps still sees no real hope. Does Cook regret breaking up with Google Maps?
