Google's "robot dog" enters service and is tested by the Marine Corps
Google's Legged Squad Support System (LS3) robot dog has officially carried out its first field transport test in Hawaii with the US Marine Corps. The robot dog is called AlphaDog, but the US Marines nicknamed it Cujo, the same name as the ferocious dog in the movie "Crazy Dog". AlphaDog can carry more than 180 kilograms of weapons or other equipment for about 32 kilometers. Like a well-trained military dog, due to its highly flexible structural design, it can follow soldiers in harsh terrain, including woods, rocky beaches, etc. Due to its huge size and super load-bearing capacity, some people jokingly call it a robot horse or a robot cow. The LS3 system allows AlphaDog to understand a variety of different voice commands like a real dog, such as action, follow, sit down, etc. The LS3 robot dog took 5 years to develop and is a masterpiece of Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Google. It is mainly used to carry heavy loads for soldiers. Unlike vehicles such as cars, it is more suitable for complex terrain. In the future, it may also be responsible for delivering supplies.
