Gaikindo: Indonesia's automobile sales (wholesale volume) in the first half of June 2023 were 82,581 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%

The Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association (Gaikindo) released automobile statistics for June 2023. Sales (wholesale) in June were 82,581 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. In the first half of 2023, the cumulative sales were 505,985 units, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%.

In terms of sales of each brand in June, Toyota ranked first with 24,803 units (-12.0% month-on-month), accounting for 31.7% of sales from January to June. Daihatsu Motor sold 18,112 units (+13.1% month-on-month), Honda sold 11,552 units (+3.5% month-on-month), Suzuki sold 7,840 units (+22.9% month-on-month), and Mitsubishi Motors sold 5,504 units (-3.8% month-on-month). Production in June was 109,609 units, and cumulative production from January to June was 696,845 units. 42,214 complete vehicles (CBU) were exported, and cumulative exports from January to June were 248,004 (+25.1% year-on-year).

Speaking about exports, Yohannes Nangoi, chairman of the Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers Association, said: "It is expected that the annual export volume of complete vehicles in 2023 will exceed 500,000 units. By 2026, the goal of annual exports of 1 million units will be achieved."

Sales of electric vehicles (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid) have increased for four consecutive months, with 5,935 units sold in June, setting a monthly record. Electric vehicle sales in June were broken down into 4,718 hybrids, 1,208 EVs, and 9 plug-in hybrids. Among them, the EV with the highest sales was Hyundai's Aire 5, with a total of 870 units sold, followed by SAIC-GM-Wuling's Aire ev, with a total of 210 units sold.
