European mobile game developers target the Chinese market, virtual reality becomes the future trend

Pocket Gamer Connects (PG Connects) officially kicked off in London, UK on January 13, 2015. This year's PG Connects, which lasted until the 14th, brought together more than 50 well-known game companies and publishers from more than 10 European countries and attracted more than 800 independent developers to attend the conference. Testin Crash Master was invited to attend the conference, and its booth attracted the attention of many overseas developers.

PG Connects is a mobile game conference brand under Steel Media and the most influential mobile game developer conference in Europe and the United States. PG Connects has a far-reaching influence on the industry, and its popularity in the European and American markets is no less than that of ChinaJoy in China.

With the development of mobile Internet, from 3D printing to wearable devices, and then to the current mobile VR devices, our lifestyle and entertainment are changing rapidly. At this conference, virtual reality and mobile VR devices have become the development trend of the future game field, and many game manufacturers have begun to develop virtual reality games.

GoodGame Studio, Germany's largest mobile game developer, is exhibiting its products "Empire" and "Empire: Four Kingdoms" at this conference. The company's revenue in the first half of 2014 exceeded US$126 million, and it has more than 220 million registered users worldwide. The products exhibited this time have long been at the top of the bestseller lists in Europe and North America.

Caglar Eger, head of GoodGame Studio, said in a conversation with Christina, VP of Testin Overseas Department, that since its products first entered the Chinese market on November 7, 2014, they have received 150,000 downloads in just two months, but the user retention rate is far below expectations. This is mainly due to the serious fragmentation of mobile terminals in the Chinese market and the existence of a large number of low-end devices, which leads to excessively high crash rates and a very unsatisfactory user experience. In the days when the app store requires high retention rates, how to develop healthily and sustainably in the Chinese market has become a major problem that they need to solve most urgently.

After learning about the functions of Testin Crash Master, Caglar Eger expressed great interest and hoped to have further cooperation and communication with Testin after the meeting.

The same problem also happened to Aviation Empire. Romar Bucur, head of the famous Dutch Royal Airlines, said that the Chinese market is a love-hate market. Although China has a huge user base, the problem of terminal fragmentation is very serious. He hopes to cooperate with Testin after entering the Chinese market to jointly develop the Chinese market.

Through communication with developers from various countries, we learned that in 2014, the total revenue of mobile game companies in the UK reached 4 billion pounds, far exceeding other parts of Europe and accounting for one-third of the total EU market. At the same time, there are more than 8,000 companies involved in application development in Europe, with more than 380,000 employees. In the UK, there are 75,000 people engaged in mobile game-related work, and 35,000 amateur enthusiasts.

Overall, European mobile game development teams are no longer satisfied with the local market, and their desire for the Chinese market is growing day by day. Testin hopes to help developers around the world solve core problems such as fragmentation and end-user experience.
