Why has Youdao Cloud Notes become the most popular office app?

Recently, the famous domestic Internet business magazine "Internet Weekly" announced the 2015 APP classification rankings (Q1). Youdao Cloud Notes surpassed QQ Mail, WPS, Evernote, etc., and topped the office APP list, becoming the largest mobile office application in China. The ranking results are a bit surprising. Why can note-taking products occupy half of the office applications and even rank among the top?

In this list, the PC-side dominant players such as PDF Reader and WPS did not continue their success on the mobile side. The products that started on the mobile side ranked high overall, accounting for more than half of the total. In a sense, the wave of mobile office has arrived, and good products should be as close as possible to users' cross-regional, cross-platform, and time-fragmented needs. Judging from the products on the list, the reasons for the "overtaking" of excellent applications are nothing more than "light", "fast", and "free", which are also the common characteristics of most successful mobile applications.

"Lightweight" is one of the most important features that distinguishes mobile office applications from traditional applications. There are many note-taking products on the list, far more than Office products. Compared with the popularity of Office on PC, users are more inclined to choose tools like Youdao Cloud Notes that have a simple interface, intuitive functions, and are easy to use when editing on mobile devices.

At the same time, in the era of mobile office, users have a strong demand for multi-platform synchronization. "Fast and save traffic" is one of the advantages of note-taking products. Evernote, which has a good experience on mobile terminals, has been developing well and was also welcomed by geek groups when it entered China. However, due to problems such as non-localization of servers, the synchronization speed is slow and synchronization failures often occur. Youdao Cloud Notes, a similar domestic product, has a local advantage and has come from behind. It specifically adopts incremental synchronization, that is, each time you synchronize notes, only the modified content is synchronized instead of all notes, so as to achieve faster and more traffic-saving purposes, meeting the needs of grassroots users.

Like other Internet products, "free" is still the king, and mobile office applications are no exception. Different from the charging model of traditional office software, "free + paid value-added services" is the commercialization path that mobile office applications are exploring. Take note-taking products as an example. Youdao Cloud Notes adopts a free space model, while Evernote takes the road of free traffic. Compared with 1G free space and 60Mb free traffic per month, domestic users are more familiar with Youdao Cloud Notes' free strategy and are more willing to pay for it.

With the penetration of mobile Internet, office applications will undergo a large-scale reshuffle. Office products that support cross-platform, focus on mobile user experience, and conform to domestic user habits will become more popular.
