Google reorganizes secretive R&D department Google X: new logo unveiled

Google X is Google's previously mysterious research department, which is mainly dedicated to long-term research on future technologies. Since the establishment of Alphabet's parent company and the adjustment of the company's business, many of Google's services have been renamed, so it is not surprising that the Google X department has changed its name.

However, Google was too "simple and crude". The new name of the Google X department is just one letter - "X". In addition, the new logo was also changed, without the word "Google", leaving only a big, yellow "X".

In addition to the slight change in name and corresponding changes in the logo, Division X has also been reorganized with the goal of increasing the speed and efficiency with which successful projects can be brought to market, or detecting and shutting down failed projects earlier.

X is full of Google's creativity in some aspects, so the project often sounds like a fantasy. As the project manager of the X department said, they were too close to the invention content before, so they could not make a decision quickly in a short period of time.

Now, the X program will be supervised by a team called Foundry to reduce project risks and get projects to fruition faster. So today's X department will not be as crazy as it was in the past, but more of an internal incubator for mid-term projects.

It's unclear whether this means the department won't pursue projects like Google Glass or hot air balloon internet in the future.
