The EU may impose heavy fines on Google again this month and demand changes to the way Android operates

According to Bloomberg, Google may soon face another round of huge antitrust fines.

Judging by the European Commission’s one-week work schedule following U.S. President Trump’s visit to Brussels, the decision could come as early as July 18.

The exact amount of the fine will be of particular interest, following last year's record €2.4 billion. Of course, the bigger impact will be on how Google should resolve the controversy over its Android mobile operating system.

The European Union may ask Google to change the way its mobile business operates because the process is not public, according to people familiar with the matter. This would force the Alphabet Inc. unit to explain what it should do to increase market competition. Regulators have not yet had substantive discussions with Google on how to resolve the issues, according to two people familiar with the matter.
