Apple said that swiping to close apps on your iPhone could shorten iPhone battery life and slow down the device, media reported. Some users believe that background applications also occupy CPU and consume power, and using fewer applications means longer battery life. Therefore, users often slide and close unused applications to "save power", but this idea has been proven to be wrong. According to Apple, swiping up to close iPhone apps may cause the app to take longer to reload. Apps not in use in the background are frozen and in standby mode, and will not take up additional device resources. Apple recommends not sliding to force quit unless the app is unresponsive. If users are concerned about apps running in the background on their iPhone, they can check the background running permissions of these apps in iPhone Settings. It is worth mentioning that previously, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi also stated in a reply to a user’s email that exiting the application will not help save power for the device.
