How to clean your iPhone and AirPods? Apple's official tutorial is here

Cleaning digital products has always been a big problem. Many devices have metal parts and need to be connected to a power source, so some cleaning agents may not be suitable for use. At the same time, digital devices are one of the products that people have the most "intimate contact" with. Whether for hygiene or aesthetics, regular cleaning of digital devices is a must. Especially with the recent outbreak of the epidemic, hygiene issues have become more important.

Apple recently updated a "cleaning tip" on its official website, teaching you how to clean Apple products, including iPhone, AirPods, MacBook, etc. In this article, Geek Choice (WeChat: GeekChoice) sorted out the key points for you.

Many people may often use tissues to wipe the screen and keyboard, but Apple does not recommend that you do so. The official recommended cleaning tool is a "lint-free soft cloth". Rough cloth, towels, tissues, etc. are not suitable for use.

Cleaner of choice: Disinfectant wipes

For daily cleaning, Apple recommends using a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe it. Some sprays, solvents, abrasives, and cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide may damage the coating on the surface of the device. If you want to disinfect, Apple recommends using 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes and Clorox disinfectant wipes.

All cleaning agents are not suitable for spraying directly on the surface of the product, mainly to prevent liquid from flowing into the interior of the product. Liquid damage is not covered by the product warranty and AppleCare, and repairs are very expensive, very expensive, very expensive...

Cleaning method:

Before cleaning the device, you need to unplug the power supply and connection cables, remove the removable battery if there is one, and then gently wipe it with a lint-free soft cloth. Excessive wiping may cause damage.

Cleaning methods for special products:

  1. Clean the speaker and microphone grilles of AirPods with a dry cotton swab; remove debris from the Lightning port with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush.
  2. If a key on your MacBook (2015 and later) and MacBook Pro (2016 and later) isn't responding or feels different than other keys when pressed, you can clean the keyboard with compressed air.
  3. If there is debris on your Magic Mouse, you can gently clean the sensor window with compressed air.
  4. Leather cases can be cleaned gently with a clean cloth dampened in warm water and mild hand soap, or with a mild detergent and a clean, dry cloth.
  5. When cleaning the internal Lightning connector of the Smart Battery Case, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth without using liquids or cleaning products.

  1. Do not allow openings to get wet
  2. Do not immerse the device in cleaning agents
  3. Do not spray cleaning agents directly onto the product
  4. Do not use cleaners containing acetone to clean the screen.

The above are the cleaning tips for Apple products that we have compiled for you. In fact, for each specific product, Apple’s official website has more detailed cleaning instructions, and you can search and check it yourself.
