On April 20, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the development of the industrial communications industry in the first quarter of 2021.

Zhao Zhiguo, spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and director of the Information and Communications Administration, said at the press conference that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has completed technical inspections of 290,000 apps this year, put forward rectification requirements for 1,862 illegal apps, publicly reported 319 apps that had not been rectified, and organized the removal of 107 apps that refused to rectify.

Next, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will promote this work from three aspects:

The first is to improve management policies and standards.

On the basis of fully soliciting opinions, we jointly with relevant departments issued the "Interim Provisions on APP Personal Information Protection Management", organized the formulation of a series of industry standards such as the "APP User Rights Protection Evaluation Specifications" and the "Minimum Necessary Assessment Specifications for APP Collection and Use of Personal Information", to provide policy and standard support for APP personal information protection supervision.

The second is to strengthen the supervision of key responsibility chains.

We must focus on the key and important link of the app store, urge the app stores to fulfill their platform responsibilities, strengthen the APP listing review mechanism, and effectively serve as the "gatekeeper" of personal information protection.

Establish an app store compliance monitoring mechanism, include violators in the list of poor telecommunications business operations, organize app stores to conduct testing standards training, and promote app stores to form a unified technical testing system.

The third is to continue to rectify hot and difficult issues.

Based on the previous special rectification of APPs, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology further focused on tool and communication APPs, and increased the rectification efforts on hot and difficult issues such as deceiving users to download, pop-up information that is difficult to close, illegal sharing and use of personal information, and using third-party embedded software to infringe on user rights , achieving governance results that users can feel.
