iOS 14.5's new tracking transparency feature is widely enabled: 90% of users refuse privacy leaks

At the end of last month, the official version of iOS 14.5 was released. This is the most important update to iOS 14 so far. It supports password-free unlocking of iPhone by bringing Apple Watch close to the iPhone while wearing a mask, dual-SIM and dual 5G support for iPhone 12 series, App tracking transparency function, Siri with multiple optional tones, support for AirTag, etc.

Among them, the App Tracking Transparency feature is considered a major privacy and security initiative that may change the industry. According to Apple's explanation, App Tracking Transparency allows you to control which apps can track your activities in other companies' apps and websites to provide advertising or share with data agents.

Regarding this feature, research firm Flurry Analytics' tracking of 2.5 million users in North America showed that only 4% of users allowed the APP to obtain their advertising identification ID, while 96% of users refused.

A global market of 5.3 million tracked shows that 11% of users allow access.

In addition, 4% of users directly turned off the system's built-in "Allow App to request tracking" function, which means that no tracking is allowed, while only 2% of users in North America turned it off.

It is worth mentioning that during the May Day holiday, Apple pushed the official version of iOS 14.5.1, which fixed the App tracking transparency-related issue that some users might not receive App prompts when re-enabling after disabling "Allow Apps to request tracking" in "Settings". At the same time, it provided important security updates and recommended all users to install it.

However, there are just over 10,000 apps that have introduced the App Tracking Transparency feature, while there are 2 million apps in the App Store.
