After the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology took the lead in rectification, the problem of APP splash screen advertisements has been greatly improved, and many leading APPs have been closed proactively. However, for PC users, pop-up problems in computer software and web pages are equally troublesome. Today (July 18), CCTV's "Weekly Quality Report" exposed the Jiangsu Provincial Consumer Protection Committee's investigation into computer network pop-ups, aiming to call on relevant platforms to cherish their reputation, control pop-ups, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. According to the Jiangsu Consumer Protection Committee, from January this year to date, there have been a total of 5,935 pieces of public opinion information about online pop-ups in Jiangsu Province, including 3,737 pieces of negative public opinion information. The problems mainly focus on the fact that online pop-ups contain built-in Trojan viruses, cannot be closed with one click, and their content is suspected of fraud and vulgarity. They tried to download 30 software from official channels for testing, and found that 11 of them had pop-up problems, accounting for 37% of the total number of surveys. Among them, 360 Security Browser had 9 pop-up windows within 15 minutes, and Baofeng Video had 6 pop-up windows within 15 minutes. Among the application software downloaded from different channels, four applications, including Baofeng Player, 360 Security Browser, 360 Security Guard, and Bird Wallpaper, have illegal pop-up content. Among the application software downloaded from different channels, pop-up windows of four software including 2345 Picture King, Tencent Video, and iQiyi cannot be "closed with one click" and there is no close function button. Among the applications downloaded from different channels, 10 applications, including 2345 Photo King, Bird Wallpaper, Kuwo Music, iClip, ACDsee, Tencent Video, iQiyi Video, and QQ Browser, had problems with being unable to set pop-up cycles or never popping up. In addition, the experiencers also found embedded ads in 7 applications. A relevant person in charge of the Provincial Consumer Protection Committee said that the next step will be to conduct centralized interviews with the companies that own the application software involved in response to the problems found in the investigation, standardize online pop-ups, and create a safe and secure Internet space.
