A generation of legendary phones is finally abandoned? iOS 16 may remove support for iPhone 6S/SE

You should know that in addition to the two hardware conferences held in spring and autumn every year, the WWDC developer conference held in June every year is also an important event, such as iOS, iPad OS, Watch OS, Mac OS, etc. In the early morning of April 6 this year, Apple officially announced that it will hold an online annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC22) from June 6 to 10 local time in the United States (June 7 to 11 Beijing time), which is free for participating developers, students, etc. If nothing unexpected happens, iOS 16 will be the most anticipated protagonist.

Recently, the news that #iOS16 may remove support for iPhone6S# has attracted widespread attention from netizens. According to the latest revelations from LeaksApplePro, iOS 16 will definitely remove support for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and the first generation iPhone SE. These devices were all launched with iOS 9 system, and ended up becoming Apple's longest-lived devices, and have been upgraded all the way to the current iOS 15 system.

It is reported that after the iPhone 6s series was launched in 2015, it has received high attention and sales worldwide. According to statistics, the cumulative sales of the iPhone 6s series have exceeded 120 million units worldwide, and the sales of the first-generation iPhone SE have exceeded 30 million units. Considering such a large number of units and the excellent performance of the A9 chip, Apple still maintained the updates for these models in the iOS 15 system launched last year.

The report also mentioned that for iPad, iPadOS 16 will no longer be compatible with iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad (fifth generation) and 2015 iPad Pro. Of course, the official confirmation will have to wait until WWDC in June 2022.

Previously, Gurman, a well-known Apple analyst, said that he did not expect a refreshing change in iOS interface design. The next version of iOS will include improvements to notifications and new health tracking features. But iPadOS may bring a new multitasking interface; at the same time, Apple watchOS may make major upgrades to activity and health tracking features.

In addition, Gurman also said that Apple may release two Mac products at WWDC. However, it is not clear which one it is. It may be a newly designed MacBook Air, a 13-inch MacBook Pro, or a new Mac mini. However, the most likely one is the new Mac Pro product that Apple announced at the spring conference.
