Google demonstrates using Dart to develop Android applications

[[133243]]

Google developers tried to develop applications for Android using the Dart language. Dart is a web development language developed by Google. Android applications developed with Dart do not use Java. It focuses on speed and deep integration with the Web. The Dart on Android project, called Sky, has made its code public under the Apache license, with the source code hosted on GitHub and the demo released on the Play Store.

Sky is designed to render the entire frame at up to 120FPS, which sounds impossible at first, since the standard smartphone display is 60Hz, and most apps can't even reach 60FPS, let alone 120FPS.

Dart applications work like websites, with most functionality provided over HTTP, which simplifies development. The downside is that they don't work offline.
