iOS 16.2 finally supports 120Hz high refresh rate!

iOS 16.2 finally supports 120Hz high refresh rate!

The day before yesterday, Apple pushed the iOS 16.2 Beta 3 test version, which optimized the screen-off display function, allowing the iPhone 14 Pro series to save more power.

But in fact, the latest iOS 16.2 Beta 3 also solves a long-standing problem for users of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro series. This problem causes system animation lag and jamming when closing and switching apps, unlocking the phone, and other situations on iOS 16, and it is impossible to run at 120 Hz high refresh rate.

Especially after upgrading to iOS 16, many users found that their iPhones were not as smooth as before, especially when opening apps and other operating interfaces, which was obviously not as "smooth" as before. This may be due to Apple's limitation of 120Hz. However, according to user reports, the latest beta version of iOS 16.2 has improved animation performance and stuttering issues.

After upgrading to iOS 16.2 Beta 3, many users reported that their iPhones were smoother, and when developers tested the frame rate, they also found that the maximum refresh rate of 120Hz had returned.

The reason why iOS 16.2 Beta 3 is smoother is that it restores the maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. If your device does not support adaptive refresh, there will be no change in the experience.

Previously, Apple launched a new system update mechanism in iOS 16: Quick Security Response. According to Apple's official description, through Quick Security Response, important security updates can be pushed to devices, and system vulnerabilities can be fixed without upgrading the full iOS version.

Yesterday morning, Apple pushed the first security response update to devices running iOS 16.2 beta: 16.2(a). The size is only 96MB and it only takes a few minutes to install. The iPhone will restart during the process.

After the installation is complete, the iPhone's About This Device interface will display the iOS 16.2(a) version. Users can also choose to "Remove Security Response" to restore to the previous version.

According to foreign media 9to5Mac, it is now basically certain that this iOS 16.2 (a) does not contain actual content and is just a functional test.

Have users of the iPhone 13 Pro series and iPhone 14 Pro series who have upgraded to the latest beta version of iOS 16.2 found that the screen is smoother to use?
