On March 12, local time, Norway's Aftenposten reported that the Oslo City Council in the capital has decided to close all schools and kindergartens in Oslo from March 16, local time. The Oslo city government issued a statement saying that junior high schools and high schools will be closed on March 13 local time. The Government will also take steps to ensure that necessary childcare is provided to families with young children who are seriously ill, including for health professionals. Bergen is also closing schools. However, Norway has not yet implemented nationwide school closures. So far, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) sees no reason to remove healthy children from school and kindergarten and keep them at home. |
