From 0:00 to 24:00 on May 5, 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 2 new confirmed cases, both of which were imported cases from abroad (in Shaanxi); no new deaths; and 3 new suspected cases, all of which were imported cases from abroad (in Shanghai).

On the same day, 58 new cured and discharged cases were reported, 517 close contacts were released from medical observation, and the number of severe cases decreased by 3.

There are 278 confirmed cases of imported cases from abroad (including 5 severe cases) and 5 suspected cases. A total of 1,678 confirmed cases have been reported, 1,400 cases have been cured and discharged, and no deaths have been reported.

As of 24:00 on May 5, according to reports from 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, there are 339 confirmed cases (including 26 severe cases), 77,911 cases have been cured and discharged, 4,633 cases have died, 82,883 confirmed cases have been reported, and there are 5 suspected cases. A total of 735,577 close contacts have been traced, and 6,973 close contacts are still under medical observation.

31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 20 new asymptomatic infections (3 imported from abroad); no cases were converted to confirmed cases on the same day; 64 cases were released from medical observation on the same day (9 imported from abroad); 903 asymptomatic infections are still under medical observation (88 imported from abroad).

A total of 1,523 confirmed cases have been reported from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Among them, there were 1,040 cases in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (920 cases discharged and 4 cases died), 45 cases in the Macao Special Administrative Region (39 cases discharged), and 438 cases in Taiwan (334 cases discharged and 6 cases died).
