Many traditional developers don’t know that the APP industry has already become a red ocean. These people are standing on the “beach” and are preparing to “get into the water”. In order to increase the number of users, show data to investors and realize their dream of getting rich in the future, those APP developers in this red ocean are using all their tricks to promote their APPs. These methods are all techniques for promoting APP in an abnormal way, and they are also what the author heard from others. From their promotion methods, I can see the shadow of the SP in the past. The first one: brush the list The exposure of the chart manipulation was at the end of 2010. It may have been very popular before that, and later this topic was exposed by a large number of industry media. The famous exposure incident at that time was that Renren forgot to turn off the cheating device, and as a result, the traffic exceeded that of Yahoo. Ranking manipulation is very popular in the industry, but it is still a bit confusing for people outside the industry. The so-called ranking manipulation is to download fake apps of one's own on the AppStore in order to get a chance to rank high and thus gain real users. This is similar to SP’s self-consumption business back then. In the early days of manipulation of the rankings, the main focus was on the AppStore. Developers are still far behind and can only sigh in despair. Second type: Points wall If the first method is aimed at traffic platforms, then the second method is aimed at users. In order to promote advertisers' apps, hundreds of domestic advertising alliances have to use more talented methods to stimulate users to download their apps. This is the points wall. For those apps with a points wall, when users encounter levels during use, they have to click on the pop-up points wall to download the app in order to get a better chance of "resurrection". Of course, the points wall is also developing ahead of time. The previous points wall accumulated points and exchanged them for gifts, but now the points wall directly gives money. Ever since Apple cracked down on ranking manipulation, people have become more honest, so the points wall has become the second means of ranking. Compared with the first method, the users of the points wall are still very real, but their activity level is a bit lower. The third method: Brush comments I didn’t know much about the issue of brushing comments before, but after seeing the popularity of “flAppybird”, many APP developers suddenly discovered that brushing comments could also make it to the AppStore rankings. So, each company’s brushing machine was started again to brush the comments. As a result, I saw an article last week saying that Apple punished an APP and deleted 40,000 comments. Imagine how troubled the operators of the Apple list must be, fighting these cheaters every day to maintain normal rankings. For the sake of AppStore and download volume, promoters from various industries are really using all kinds of tricks to target AppStore. The fourth type: creating a shell-changing app to attract traffic This is the latest discovery. The AppStore has a period of exposure opportunities for the latest apps on the shelves, which can bring some original traffic to the new apps. It is also a means of support for new apps by the AppStore. However, this method seems to have been discovered by many developers with bad intentions. They develop an app, submit it for online release, then change the skin of their own app, give it a name, and submit it again, constantly changing the skin and name. Therefore, every short exposure opportunity can bring some traffic. In this way, every app adds advertisements for the same app, which is equivalent to diverting traffic from the AppStore. I just want to say, what a talent. Fifth: Pirated copycat apps Compared with the fourth method, the fifth method is very unethical. It is to copy or pirate other people's APP, then add advertisements, upload it to a third-party app store, earn traffic and money. Some small and medium-sized advertising alliances do not have developers to do their advertising, so they copy or pirate other people's APP, put advertisements, and make money by attracting traffic. However, the data was exhausted within a few days at the beginning of the month. There is really no difference between this and the original SP hidden button. The key is that the SP's secret deduction can also be used to find out who deducted the money, if it is silent. You have no idea which app on your phone did the bad thing. Silent things mostly happen because the phone has been rooted. Some apps obtain the highest level of permissions on the phone and then start working in the middle of the night. However, it is said that some apps with PUSH function can also install apps directly on mobile phones, which is the same as Trojan horses. This is a dark path. However, if operators see this method, they will probably like it very much and sell a lot of traffic. Seventh type: Virus App diversion The seventh APP promotion method is basically the same as the sixth one, the only difference is that it is more harmful. Take some well-known apps and make them into viruses, and control countless mobile phones, just like controlling thousands of troops. With one command, hundreds of thousands of apps will download your app, and your app traffic will naturally increase. Type 8: Using countless second-hand mobile phones to increase traffic Last time, someone exposed on WeChat that someone used a lot of second-hand mobile phones to increase traffic, but the post was quickly deleted. From this we can see that using large quantities of second-hand mobile phones to brush APP is also a business. On the one hand, the data is real, and on the other hand, the activity can be controlled. Today’s advertisers require not only activation but also activity, which puts considerable pressure on channel operators who promote APPs.
