It took me 3 months just to conquer the Apple 2.1 package, and luckily I won!
At the end of the year, the review process suddenly became very strict, and all three projects I had were rejected. Two of them were successfully launched after a little struggle, but one of them was stuck for three months. During this period, I tried countless methods and had countless struggles with the review team. Here I share the solutions I used during that time, hoping to help you who have the same problem.
Feel my despair
From January 24th to April 25th, the reason for metadata rejection was always the gift package 2.1. During this period, I would reply to more than 3 emails every time the review was rejected. Because the reply emails were basically once a day, but the review cycle was basically about 20 days. During this period, I made full use of emails and kept asking questions, but the replies I got were mostly the same, which was the gift package.

According to the ranking of rejected clauses in January by Qimai Research Institute , Clause 2.3 (metadata) topped the list, followed closely by Clause 2.1 (App completion) with 603 cases. This also fully confirms the author's painful experience since January.

According to the data from Qimai Research Institute, gift packages are still the No. 1 reason for rejection of reviews in the past 30 days, which also reflects that Apple’s review of 2.1 has been particularly strict recently.

The reason for this situation
Basically, those who receive gift packages have problems or have had problems before. Our problem is very simple, that is, we have been using third-party payment before and have not used in-app purchases. The last time, the third-party payment was discovered and rejected. So we deleted the third-party payment and switched to in-app purchases, and the nightmare began. Some other vest packages are stuck, and there are more or less some problems that cause them to be stuck for a long time. If you are sure that there is no problem with your app, you must reply to an email like this to assure the review team that there is no problem with your app. The reply is as follows:
Dear Apple Review Team: Thank you for your patient review of our App. Regarding the 7 review terms you mentioned that we may have violated, we have conducted careful self-examination and research, and our response is as follows: 1.1.6: Our App does not contain any false information, functions or misleading metadata information.

2.3.0: Our app has never made major changes to major features, including after review.

2.3.1: Our App does not contain any illegal information such as gambling, nor does it have any hidden switches.

3.1.1: Our App does not use any third-party payment except in-app purchase.

4.3.0: Our App is independently developed by our company and mainly provides an online learning platform. There is no plagiarism or large amounts of similarities.

5.2.1: Our App is submitted by ourselves, and there is no risk of legal entity and copyright.

5.3.4: Our App does not use the location function, so we do not request location permission.

We have repeatedly checked and tested all of the above and have not violated any of the guidelines. Could you please tell us the specific reason for the rejection so that we can handle it? You can also contact me by phone. Your name: Your phone number, thank you

Dear Apple review team:

Thank you for your patience review of our App. We have carefully checked and studied the seven review clauses that we may have violated, and we reply as follows:

3.1.1: Our App does not use any third party payment except in-app purchase.

4.3.0: Our App is developed independently by our company and mainly provides an online learning platform. There is no plagiarism and a lot of similarities.

5.2.1: Our App is submitted by ourselves without the risk of legal entity and copyright.

5.3.4: Our app does not use the location function, so it does not request location permission.

We have repeatedly inspected and tested the above-mentioned issues. We have not violated any criteria. Can you tell me the reasons for rejection specifically so that we can handle them? You can also contact me by phone Your name: Your phone number, thank you.

Problems encountered during the period and solutions
Of course, under normal circumstances, since they have sent you a big gift package, they will always find some reasons to give it to you. If they want to block it, most apps may find it difficult to go online. The above reply is only available if you are sure that you have no problem or you don’t know where your problem lies. If you know the problem or the review team has pointed out the problem to you, please deal with it well! Below I list the issues pointed out to me by the respected review team and my solutions.
Thank you for your response. Regarding the 5.1.1 issue, your app requires users to register for the sole purpose of tracking IAP, which does not comply with the App Store Review Guidelines. It would be appropriate to make it clear to the user that registering will enable them to access the content from any of their iOS devices and provide them a way to register at any time.

If you would like to enable users to access content on different devices, such registration must be made optional, as such a feature does not offer user benefit to users who only possess one device, or chooses not to share their purchased content with other devices.

It would be appropriate to revise your app so that the user is not required to register or log-in to access the study materials, including those that are paid through In-App Purchase.

Additionally, an Apple Representative will call you to discuss your app.

Best regards,

App Store Review.

This is the confirmation email I sent earlier saying that there is no problem with our app, and then I received this email. What this probably means is that we should add a function that allows visitors to purchase courses.
Thanks for your responses. Regarding issue 5.1.1, your app requires users to register for the sole purpose of tracking IAP, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. Make it clear to users that registration will allow them to access the content from any iOS device, and provide them with a way to register at any time.

If you wish to allow users to access content on different devices, you must make such registration optional, as such functionality will not be available to users who only have

Users of one device provide user benefits or choose not to share their purchased content with other devices.

Modify your app so that users can access learning materials without registering or logging in, including materials paid for through in-app purchases.

Additionally, an Apple representative will call you to discuss your app.

Visitors can also purchase other apps before, but they were rejected due to this issue. At that time, we replied with an email explaining that our courses are not for everyone, but for internal employees of the company, and are linked to the account. Another app passed the review successfully with this reply before, so I gave it a try and replied to a similar email, but of course it didn’t pass… Then we compromised and added a guest purchase mode. Here’s the general idea: When the user clicks to buy, if they are not logged in, they will be prompted first:
If a visitor clicks on Visitor Purchase, an account will be automatically generated for the user (generated based on the unique identifier of the user's device). I use the UDID as the unique identifier of the device and write the UDID into the keychain to prevent it from being changed. After adding visitors and purchasing, I submitted a new App and then waited for nearly a month before receiving another big gift package. However, I was confused. It was another big gift package and they didn’t tell me what the problem was. How should I deal with it? Then I politely replied an email to the review team:
Dear Apple Review Team: Thank you for your patient review of our App. Regarding the 7 review terms you mentioned that we may have violated, we have conducted careful self-examination and research, and our response is as follows: 1.1.6: Our App does not contain any false information, functions or misleading metadata information.

Then they replied something like: The App review cannot be completed because one or more of your in-app purchase products have not been submitted for review. They said that our in-app purchase products had not been submitted for review. Instead of telling me directly, they made me ask them (they were really idle). Then I checked my in-app purchase products and found that they had indeed not passed the review. They were all red dots. The in-app purchase product review was rejected, and a red dot appeared in the description. Then I modified my product description based on other people’s experience, changing it from “12 yuan to buy 12 school coins” to “Are you willing to spend 12 yuan to buy 12 school coins?” Then I submitted it for review, and after waiting for a month, the product still didn’t pass the review… I described the problem again and changed it to 12 yuan for 12 learning coins, but it was still rejected… Other apps with the same description passed, but mine didn’t… In the end, I had no choice but to reply to the email…
Dear review team, thank you for your patient review of our App. I would like to know why our in-app purchase items have been rejected. How should we describe the in-app purchase items? How can we modify it? If possible, please tell us how to modify it, thank you very much! Dear review team, thank you for your patience review of our App. I would like to know why our in-app purchases are always rejected. How do we describe our in-app purchases? How can we modify it? If you can please tell us how to modify, extremely grateful!

However, it passed, just as described before. After replying to the email, it passed the review (there were a thousand alpacas running wildly in my heart). Then the App also passed the review, finally ending the 3-month tug-of-war.

Regarding the recent review time, Qimai data shows that after entering May, the review time has been significantly averaged and the review time will not be too long. Apple is gradually changing itself to improve efficiency!

Summarize
If you receive a big gift package, be prepared. Generally, you will have to go through a long struggle and each review cycle will be longer. If the review team points out a problem, don't struggle to change it. If you don't know what the problem is, reply to the email to say that you are sure there is no problem with your App. If it is still a big gift package, keep replying to confirmation emails and ask yourself where you violated the rules (it is on the template). Finally, I wish everyone can pass the review as soon as possible!
