Rules and features of Facebook advertising in 2019!

In the social media industry, “speed is everything”. If you don’t keep up with platform updates, your competitors can easily leave you far behind.

Therefore, this article summarizes for you several key updates that have occurred in Facebook ads as of November 2019, so that you can have new gameplay and ideas in your 2020 marketing strategy.

1. Facebook opens search ads to all advertisers

Facebook has now officially opened search advertising to more advertisers, and these search ads will be hidden in the search results of the terms. Currently, these search ads are only visible on mobile devices.

Therefore, sellers who are targeting sales or conversions as their main purpose should seize this opportunity, because search ads will allow you to directly reach customers who have a strong desire to buy and are actively searching for products.

Notes on Facebook Search Ads:

•Search ads have high requirements for visual effects, so advertisers need to pay special attention to the quality of ad images.

•Facebook search ads are currently only available in English and Spanish.

•If you want your ads to appear in search results, you can select "Automatic Delivery" in News Feed Ads, or you can select "Facebook Search Results" in Facebook Ads Manager.

•Search ads are targeted based on the advertiser's target audience and relevant keywords.

•Facebook has the final say on keywords. Facebook determines the relevance of keywords based on ad text, products, categories, titles, descriptions, etc., and you can optimize your ads accordingly.

2. Advertisers can use Stories ads to start conversations in Messenger

You can now engage more closely with users on Messenger with Stories ads.

You can add a “Send Message” CTA button to your Stories ads, allowing users to swipe up on the Facebook or Instagram app to start a conversation with you.

3. Multiple text options: Facebook’s new ad testing feature

Currently, some Facebook advertisers can use the new feature of "Multiple Text Options" to create multiple versions of copy, including ad copy, headline copy, and ad descriptions for media ads.

You can upload ad copy in advance, and Facebook will dynamically adjust the copy based on the relevance of the results and automatically match the best copy combination for the ad.

You can use the multiple text options to test how different texts might elicit different audience responses. You can also use the “View more variations” button to see how various copy combinations will perform before launching.

It’s important to note that Facebook uses machine learning to manipulate how your ads appear to different audiences, so this will give you less control over your ad targeting.

4. Facebook News tab will no longer include ads, but your content may still appear in it

Facebook News is now in beta and will be dedicated to showing trending news, allowing users to:

• Quickly browse the hottest news selected by the media team

• More control over what you want to see

• Keep up to date with news and topics of interest

• Manage and read news from paid subscription sources

The new Facebook News feed will not include ads from advertisers. However, when your content is included in Facebook News and appears in the feed, you will still be able to earn money from that content.

5. Facebook is testing ads in the Groups tab

Facebook is testing the ad serving feature in the Groups tab and will decide whether to introduce the ad feature in Groups and bring it to more advertisers based on the test data.

In the future, if advertisers want to place ads in related groups, they will need to select "Facebook Feed" and "Group Feed" as delivery options.

6. Facebook tests new photo layout for multi-image posts

Currently, all multi-image posts have the same layout, which makes it difficult for advertisers to play with the visuals.

It is understood that Facebook is testing allowing multi-image posts to have different layouts. However, whether this change is suitable for advertisers and its actual effect remains to be tested by time.

7. In 2020, Facebook will limit the number of ads that can run on a page at the same time

Facebook recently announced that it will limit the number of ads that can be run on Pages at the same time starting in mid-2020, because too many ads on a single page will affect ad performance.

In addition, Facebook pointed out that if too many ads are launched at the same time, fewer ads will exit the learning phase. In this way, a lot of budget will be consumed before the delivery system optimizes the advertising effect.

This account will continue to update you with more updates about Facebook advertising.
