Sandslash evolves from Sandshrew in Pokémon. It is a bipedal, one-tailed animal that lives on the ground. Its body is covered with a large amount of tough bristles, giving it strong defensive capabilities. Its sharp claws can also dig burrows. When threatened, it can curl into a ball to protect its abdomen. Does this description sound familiar? That's because Sandslash was inspired by the pangolin; their names and abilities are quite similar.

Mudkip is a Pokémon of the Swamp Fish type. It breathes underwater using gills on its cheeks, and its head fins function as radar, allowing it to assess its surroundings. Despite its small size, it can unleash enough power to crush rocks larger than itself when threatened. Inspired by the axolotl, also known as the American axolotl, it is famous for its distinctive "Upperupa" call and is a popular amphibian.

Sneasel, a Pokémon introduced in Generation II, evolves into Weavile. Weavile attacks with sharp claws at incredible speed, often striking before the attacker feels any pain. It is predominantly black, often acts in packs, and has a particular fondness for eggs. In Japan, there is an animal called the weasel, which resembles a ferret and is extremely fast. Sneasel bears a striking resemblance to this weasel.

Krookodile is a notoriously aggressive and troublesome Pokémon with a terrible temper. It won't rest until it defeats anyone it encounters. Its name easily suggests its design is based on a crocodile, but this crocodile is different; it's extremely impulsive and easily angered. A more fitting design would be the Indian crocodile, as Indian crocodiles are also known for their violent temper and willingness to harm humans.

In Pokémon, there's a beautiful little Pokémon called Sakura, with a lovely pink body. Its design is based on the real-world longsnout chimaera. Some of these fish have long, flat bodies and short, conical mouths, while others have long, pointed bodies and sharp snouts used for finding food. Although they look quite different, they all share a long history on Earth and are considered "living fossils."

Pokémon, one of the Pokémon in the Pokémon franchise, is poisonous and possesses the ability to produce a foul stench. It thrives in unclean places, its origin stemming from a chemical reaction that occurred when a garbage bag was exposed to industrial waste. Just like a garbage bag, Pokémon has two horns on its head, which are actually the horns attached to a garbage bag. If you don't know its origin, Pokémon is actually quite cute.
